Argentina – Digital Nomad Visa

Requirements and Application Guide for Foreigners

Argentina introduced a Digital Nomad Visa in 2022 to allow remote workers, freelancers, and entrepreneurs to live temporarily in the country while working for companies or clients located outside Argentina.

This visa allows eligible foreign nationals to stay in Argentina while continuing their remote professional activities abroad.

What Is the Argentina Digital Nomad Visa?

The Argentina Digital Nomad Visa grants temporary residence status to remote workers who perform their work online for foreign employers or clients.

Key features of the visa include:

  • Initial validity: Up to 180 days (6 months)
  • Extension: One additional extension of 180 days
  • Maximum stay: Up to 360 days in total

The visa is designed for individuals who want to stay temporarily in Argentina without entering the local labor market.

Who Can Apply for the Argentina Digital Nomad Visa?

The visa is intended for foreigners who work remotely using digital technology and whose income comes from outside Argentina.

Eligible applicants typically include:

  • Remote employees working for companies based outside Argentina
  • Freelancers or consultants with international clients
  • Entrepreneurs running online businesses outside Argentina

Applicants must demonstrate that their professional activities and income originate outside Argentina.
Additionally, the visa is generally available to citizens of countries that do not require a tourist visa to enter Argentina

Argentina Digital Nomad Visa Requirements

Foreign applicants must meet several eligibility criteria.

1. Valid Passport

Applicants must have a valid passport, typically with at least six months of remaining validity.

2. Remote Employment or Business Activity

Applicants must provide documentation confirming their remote work activity outside Argentina.
Examples include:

  • Employment contract with a foreign company
  • Letter from employer confirming remote work
  • Freelance contracts or consulting agreements

3. Proof of Income from Outside Argentina

Applicants must demonstrate that they receive regular income from foreign sources.
Acceptable evidence may include:

  • Pay slips
  • Bank statements
  • Freelance invoices
  • Employment contracts

Some immigration advisors recommend demonstrating stable income of around USD 2,500 per month, although the official program focuses on proving sufficient financial support rather than a universally fixed threshold.

4. Criminal Record Certificate

Applicants must provide a criminal background certificate showing no convictions or pending criminal cases in countries where they have lived.

5. Health Insurance

Applicants must have health insurance coverage valid in Argentina for the duration of their stay.

6. Address or Accommodation in Argentina

Applicants may need to provide proof of residence in Argentina, such as:

  • Proof of address or a police-issued residence certificate (Certificado de Domicilio)
  • A rental agreement

Documents Required for the Application

Applicants are typically required to submit the following documentation:

  • Valid passport
  • Passport-size photograph
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailing professional background
  • Documentation confirming remote employment or business activity
  • Proof of income from foreign sources
  • Criminal record certificate
  • Proof of address in Argentina
  • Reference letter
  • Completed visa application form

All documents issued outside Argentina must normally be:

  • Legally apostilled or legalized
  • Translated into Spanish by a certified translator

How to Apply for the Argentina Digital Nomad Visa

The application process generally involves the following steps.

Step 1: Prepare Documentation

The visa may be extended once for an additional 180-day period.

To apply for an extension, applicants must typically provide:
